Barry Searle was the first regional taxi driver to take out the title.

Barry is regarded as a man who has worked tirelessly within his local Riverland community and is highly regarded for his trusted role in providing transport, particularly to the elderly and young adults.

The judges saw Barry as providing much more than a taxi service, because he also looked after local blood runs between Loxton and Berri Hospitals and Royal Flying Doctor Service pick-ups.

"It's just such an honour," Barry said.
